a little vintage typewriter remodel
I had been on the hunt for a vintage typewriter for a little while. I kept coming across images on pinterest like this & like this. I instantly knew that I wanted one of my very own! I found one on craigslist for $10. I didn't really love the color, but I had an idea of re-painting it a color that I do love! After a little research (thank you google) I embarked on my little DIY project. Here is my before, during & after! :)
I covered up all the places on the typewriter that I didn't want the paint to touch...
Isn't it beautiful?! I bought a can of spray paint at Fred Meyer for $2.99 & used just one coat of paint. Unfortunately I didn't cover up some spots & the paint got on the keys... oops! I found that a quick scrub to an area you want to remove with some nail polish, & it comes right off!
Yes, I type letters in the backyard....
& the boyfriend can't stop laughing at me wanting to do a photo shoot in the backyard with the typewriter... but he cooperated because he's the best! :)

& did you notice my new blog layout & header? I thought it was time for a change, I can't ever keep the same design... I get bored easily! I do hope this one sticks around for a while though, I kinda like it ;)

ReplyDeleteOMG I love this! And your new header is my favorite one yet!
ReplyDeleteLove this idea! I already have a turquoise typewriter, but now I will think twice before passing by boring typewriters at the thrift - I think I really need to paint one pink!

Awesome job and I love the new header! :)
ReplyDeleteLove this idea! I just bought an old typewriter myself. I'm wondering:
ReplyDeleteWhat kind of tape did you use?
And how did you cover the individual letter keys?
I'd love to try this on my vintage typewriter! Thanks :)
