Guest Post: Jenni from Story of My Life

Hello Little Miss Holls readers!

Pleasure to be here with you today!  My name is Jenni and I blog over at Story of My Life!  I live in the grand city of Austin, Texas, and Holly asked me to talk to you a little about why our slogan here is "Keep Austin Weird."  Incidentally, her town of Portland has the same slogan!  It'd be interesting to see how the two cities compare!

That's me, keepin' it real.

Anyway!  I've actually only lived in Austin for a year and half, so my experience here is limited, but I caught on pretty quickly to why they say Austin is a little "weird."

Hmmm.  Should I tell you about the time my mom saw a cyclist pedaling along... in a g-string?  Or the time I saw a man in full cowboy gear riding his horse alongside a busy freeway?  Or perhaps I could mention the frequent hippy-sightings--complete with vintage clothing, tie-dyed t-shirts, dreadlocks, and that unmistakable aroma of patchouli oil.  I could even mention the way that sometimes people don't wear bras or deodorant and may or may not bathe for weeks.  (I don't condone that, though.)

'Tis true.  Many people in this city march to the beat of their own little drummer.  But really, it's a fabulous place to live--full of youthful, progressive people who care about music and art and health and the environment and self-expression and supporting local businesses above all else.  If that makes us weird?  I'm OK with it.  I've never been more proud of any place I've lived.

That's all for now folks.  Thanks for having me!  I'll leave you with a few more photos of out and about Austin.

Have a great week!!
