{What my twenties taught me...}

What did my twenties teach me? Where do I even begin? Less than a month ago I turned 30, a number that I thought would scare me. I actually felt really good about turning 30 this year because when I look back on my twenties, I see a decade that consisted of learning, growing & accomplishments. My twenties were full of learning life's important lessons that I'll take with me as I face my thirties with confidence.

The best advice that I was ever given was to "do what makes you happy". My parents instilled this in me early on. They've always supported anything & everything that I've wanted to do that makes me happy & that is one of the greatest gifts they could have ever given me.

Sometimes relationships aren't meant to be. Sometimes friendships aren't meant to last forever. This might have been one of the biggest lessons that I've had to learn in my twenties. If you're not happy with your relationships, then move on. Life's too short to be treated unfairly. I wasted a lot of time on un-deserving people. Nowadays, I choose to surround myself with people that I love & know love me back.

Collect memories not things. My most favorite memories of my twenties are the fun, carefree & crazy times that I had in college. The midnight road trips with friends. The excitement that I felt when Luke came into my life. The times I spent with my family. The many vacations that Luke & I took together. My twenties were filled with some of the best memories of my life to date. I truly believe that the best things in life are your experiences with the people you love.

Be yourself. We are all unique, we are all different. Don't try to be what someone else is, don't try to have the same things that someone else has. Because if you do, the world will be missing out on what you have to offer.
