New apartment and crafty ideas!

Tuesday, March 30, 2010

Heather and I are moving into a 2-bedroom apartment in Queen Anne in a few weeks - and we couldn't be more excited! Unfortunately, the next few weeks mean major down-sizing, packing and organizing (blah!) to fit all of our stuff into a much smaller area.

Our new place is located in North Queen Anne, just east of Interbay Golf Course. On a nice summer day we can walk to the driving range and mini-putt course! The new place = blank canvas. We are excited to organize and decorate to create a humble little abode.

I always peruse around on for new ideas and inspirations. Every time I visit this site I find new ideas, which creates new obsessions! This site is amazing because it encompasses all of my likes! It has all my favorite colors, textures, styles, ideas... Everything! Visiting this site makes me wish so much that I had an actual house of my own! But for now I'll just take away bits and pieces to incorporate into my little space.

I'm most excited about our balcony/patio! It lets so much light into our place and serves as the coolest spot to chill when the sun is out! You can look out our balcony right to the golf course/Magnolia. We already plan on having a grill and some cute chairs out there. In the summertime we can wheel out our little IKEA kitchen island to create a bar/table for drinks and grilled deliciousness! (please note: picture below = not actual balcony - dangit!)

If anyone has some free time on April 10-11 & wouldn't mind flexing their muscles... helpers are welcome for the move! ;)

Southern Living

Thursday, March 25, 2010

grits... sweet tea... cornbread... fried okra... peach cobbler... country music... southern drawls... barbecue & etc...

I discovered a new (well new to me) magazine that I will be subscribing to, shortly! Southern Living. If you know me well, you know that I love (or am slightly obsessed) with everything that is southern!

Most everyone that I have had a conversation with about the south hates in there. Not me! When I drive around listening to country music in my car on a sunny day - I wish I could transport myself to South Carolina (or other comparable location) nibble on a southern breakfast of white cheddar grits, sip some sweet tea - then wander around little country towns.

Someday I will get to go to Paula Deen's restaurant in Savannah, because it didn't happen last time. And someday I'll get to go to Memphis and eat "real" barbecue... But for now I can get some recipes from Southern Living and pretend.

I've been to a few places in the south and have thoroughly enjoyed my time there (Houston, Texas - New Orleans, Louisiana - Savannah, Georgia) I just love how different it is than where I am from. I love the southern style (think Southern Belle and not hillbilly, ok!) and I love getting inspired to incorporate the southern lifestyle into my own! Sounds like the magazine is perfect for me... ;)

Hot Yoga!

Tonight Keshia and I are trying Hot Yoga! Eeeeeekkkkkk!

Bikram Yoga, commonly known as hot yoga, is a system of yoga that synthesized from traditional yoga techniques and popularized beginning in the early 1970s. A typical yoga class runs approximately 90 minutes, incorporates a series of 26 postures and 2 breathing exercises and is ideally practiced in a room heated to 100°F with a humidity of 50%.

Bikram Yoga aims toward general wellness. The heated studio facilitates deeper stretching, injury prevention, and stress and tension relief. Bikram yoga is claimed to systematically stimulate and restore health to every muscle, joint, and organ of the body.

H&M debuted a new collection, The Garden Collection and I'm going to have to head down there and check it out. Click on the blog title above to see the whole collection! I hope these items look as cute on as they do in pictures! If so, I've got myself some new springy outfits :)

Happy Birthday to you!

Tuesday, March 16, 2010

Dear Luke,

Happy 28th birthday! I'm sorry your St. Patrick's Day birthday is on a Wednesday! :-/ BUT I'm glad that I got to spend all of last weekend with you & celebrate with parties on both Friday AND Saturday! :)

On Friday, Jenni (Luke's cousin) and I successfully had a little surprise party for Luke at On Deck. I came down to Portland early (without Luke knowing) & we invited his aunt & uncle & some of his friends - he had no idea! It ended up being a super fun night! Then on Saturday Luke & his roommate had a house party! It was a great weekend & a great way to celebrate your birthday when it falls in the middle of the week!

I hope you have a great day, Luke - I wish I was down in Portland with you today! Loves! ♥ ♥ ♥

Getting excited...

Wednesday, March 10, 2010

I'm getting SUPER excited about SUMMER! I've already busted out the country music (which usually gets me in a summery mood) and can't wait for warm weather, beaches and lots of baseball :)I'm getting SUPER excited for OPENING DAY 2010. It's going to be here in a little more than 3 weeks - and work hasn't ever been as busy as it is right now!

I'm getting SUPER excited for SAN FRANCISCO with Luke over the 4th of July weekend! We are going to take our first long road trip together and drive down there for a super, super long weekend! :)

But what I'm most excited about it seeing Luke in a few days! I'm going down to Portland to help with celebrating his 28th birthday! His birthday isn't until March 17 - but that falls on a Wednesday and that just wont work out for visiting :-/

That's all for now! More Friday!

A lovely day

Monday, March 8, 2010

It was a lovely day in Portland, Oregon last weekend. It was the opening weekend for Portland's Saturday Market (kicking off year #37) and it couldn't have been more beautiful outside!

I found a lovely little pair of sterling silver earrings in the shape of tiny feathers & bought Luke a framed photo of downtown Portland (early birthday present)!

little inspirations

Wednesday, March 3, 2010

I always find myself going back to this website checking for new phrases and short sentences of inspiration. Quotables has been one of my favorite websites for quite some time now. I love collecting these little clever little words and placing them around my house. I have a few magnets, a journal, greeting cards and a canvas board of my favorites. Stop by and check them out, there are 100's of cute things there!

Trying out for the 2014 Olympic Curling Team!

Monday, March 1, 2010

Luke came to town this past weekend (yay!) & we joined Tony and Keshia on Saturday morning at the Granite Curling Club to see if we had what it takes to make the 2014 Olympic team! It is definitely a lot harder than it looks, but definitely lots of fun!
