Hello, San Francisco! :)

Counting down

Monday, June 28, 2010

This past week and weekend I was so lucky to have Luke up here in Seattle. The Cubs were playing the M's on Tue-Thurs so Luke decided to work out of the Seattle office and then just stay throughout the weekend. During the week we went out to new lunch spots, went to the M's/Cubs games, drank a few beers, had a BBQ, went paddle boating on Greenlake and spent some time with the family. I could get used to this!

Now Luke is back in Portland and it's back to work for a few days until San Francisco later this week! We have a very loose itinerary for our trip... Since we only have three full days to do the million things we want to do.

Friday
Union Square
Golden Gate Park
Haight-Ashbury
See the Painted Ladies
AT&T Park ??

Saturday
Twin Peaks
Santa Cruz
Dinner at Velvet Cantina

Sunday (Happy Birthday America!)
Cable Cars!
Lombard Street / Russian Hill
Pier 39 - Fisherman's Wharf - Ghirardelli Square

Monday
Golden Gate Bridge
Little Skillet
drive home :(

There is SO much more we would like to do here, but unfortunately time just doesn't allow it! We'll have to save that for trip #2 (whenever that will be...)

Thirteen on Thursday

Thursday, June 17, 2010

one: I need a change!

two: I'm excited that next week Luke is going to be up here for six days! He'll be working out of the Seattle Ticketmaster office! Woo Hoo!

three: We tried a great new Thai place on Monday night! Heather and I have a goal of trying a new place to eat each month...

four: I need to find Heather an awesome birthday present - it's coming up next weekend!

five: I got a new blue piggy bank so I can start saving for my future! :-p

six: I'm very happy that the Texas and Oklahoma schools aren't going to join the Pac 10! But not too excited about Utah joining...

seven: This week has been a week of bad news, but I'm looking towards more positive things (well, trying to!)

eight: Wrigley has a noodle now!

nine: I can think of a million better things to do with $80K than this...

ten: I'm convinced that Seattle is never going to get a summer...

eleven: This weekend at work we have an employee autograph session, where we can get items (bats, balls, etc.) signed by our players! I'm bringing the dad (for the 3rd year in a row).

twelve: I am going to book my Chicago plane ticket soon! (I need to do this in the next few weeks) Did you know that it is very affordable to purchase a home in Chicago (a nice condo or townhome), but very expensive to rent? Something to think about... ;)

thirteen: This has been quite a boring week for the blog (sorry!)

01 - I can't believe this is still going on. It's sad. When will BP assume responsibility? On a side note: Did you happen to see what Aziz Ansari had to say about BP on the MTV Movie Awards??

02 - Happy that Luke is coming up this weekend (well to Gig Harbor anyways) I owe him :)

03 - I watched Sex and City 2 on Tuesday night, it was not a good movie. The only thing that happened was Carrie kissing her ex-boyfriend & Charlotte having a nervous breakdown - other than that, everything else was the same... disappointing movie.

04 - I think this is awful. I wont be visiting this establishment in my lifetime. Red and Black Cafe

05 - Less than a month and Luke and I are on our way to San Francisco! [I can't wait for Luke to meet the "Bush Man"]

06 - AND in a few months... Chicago!

07 - The newest iPhone came out this week. I never even had the old one... :(

08 - I hope to get rid of A LOT of crap at our garage sale this weekend!!!!

09 - I can't wait to see this documentary.

10 - So impressed with Jimmy Johns delivery service. Serious. I place my order online and in approximately 5 minutes, my food is here! No joke!

11 - I've been listening to this song a lot. My favorite line is "we'll melt your popsicle... OOooOOoOOooo"

12 - The Blackhawks won the Stanley Cup! Luke is happy.

13 - This week has been a week of realizing that you cannot change people, or that they may never change or care. I need to learn to take such things less personal...

Do you recognize these??

Someone posted this on facebook... It's the Amityville house! Would you buy that for $1.15 million dollars? Nah.

Here are some other houses, do you remember these...?

The Home Alone House

10 Things I Hate About You - I have a friend that actually went to the High School where they filmed this... and another that lives in the same neighborhood as the house they lived in, in the film.

Sleepless in Seattle - So I live in Seattle and have never seen this house. I heard if you do the Ride the Ducks Tour you get to see it.

Did you ever see the movie, Nights in Rodanthe? That house was beautiful, but look at it now...

How about Practical Magic? This house is on the San Juan Islands, a beautiful area just north of me. Some of the movie was filmed in Coupeville on Whidbey Island, where some old friends of mine grew up.

The Brady Bunch House

What? Brenda and Brandon's house wasn't actually in Beverly Hills, 90210?

Everyone's favorite San Francisco (TV) family! The Tanner house! But we all might remember this a little better... the Painted Ladies!

Wisteria Lane, where Desperate Housewives is filmed. Actually it is Colonial Street, a lot behind Universal Studies outside of Los Angeles. Other film and television productions in which 'Colonial Street' has featured include the original Leave It to Beaver series, Gremlins, The 'Burbs, and Buffy the Vampire Slayer.

Success!

This past weekend was so great! It was my first time meeting Luke's parents [they live in Indiana]. They're in the NW from Wednesday to Wednesday, so it was really nice that they came up to Seattle for the weekend.

[Saturday]
Mariners day game [with both of our families] followed by a trip to Pike Place and dinner at the Pike Pub. Later that night we went to the top of the Space Needle right at sunset [only took me two years...]

[Sunday]
After a quick stop at work for about an hour, we ventured down to Gig Harbor where we had fondue and shrimp cocktail at the parents house, followed by a quick trip around town and a lot of chit-chatting.

And did I mention that these two are the nicest people ever! They give hugs right away and are just so dang friendly. It was funny to hear the dads go back and forth with fireman/police talk and it was really cute to hear Lukes mom talk about Luke as a kid with some cute little stories. I'm really wishing that we all lived closer because I would love to spend more time with them. Maybe someday :)

ps - I accidentally threw a peanut at Luke's' moms' head. Oops! That will teach me to drink a few less beers...

01 -#$%#Q@$%!#

02 - I am THIS EXCITED to meet Luke's parents this weekend!

03 - I have realized that my pet peeve for the week is people and their endless complaints about the weather. Did they forget that they live in the NW??

04 - Viva Puffs (only found in Canada) have been the death of me this week.

05 - We had an intern start this week - so far she's great.

06 - I realized that I need to cook more. I also wish there were a few more hours in the day to do this...

07 - I also realized that I dislike our property management company. A LOT.

08 - Griffey retired yesterday. I'm glad that I was able to be a part of the Mariners organization when he ended his career.

09 - A friend of mine got laid off this week. Her company is going through a merger and a lot of re-structuring. It makes me sad that a great company and its great employees are being compromised. Damn Corporate America!

10 - I am not a fan of Seattle traffic. Yesterday I left home at 8am and made it to work at 8:50. Today I left work at 8am and made it to work at 8:15. This makes no sense.

11 - I watched "Dear John" a few nights back... not a fan of that movie.

12 - My mom is coming to the game with me tonight for Girls Night Out!

13 - Wow - its been a busy week for me here!

Hello Monday (I mean Tuesday...)

Tuesday, June 1, 2010

It sure does feel like a Monday at work today... But it's Tuesday - and that means that Friday will be here sooner than we all think! Thank goodness! I can already tell that it is going to be a busy week! Here is what I have to start out with...
  • our new intern started this week
  • lots of stuff going on at work, lots of stuff
  • games with the parents
  • getting back on schedule at the gym
  • running errands at Southcenter, ugh
  • #$%@%@#%
  • Luke's parents coming to town
It's going to be a great week! It will be a mix of work, fun and challenges :)
