Make it Monday: DIY Cake Stands

Monday, January 30, 2012

I have the cutest (& easiest!) DIY to show you today. On one of my many days off I was out looking for hidden treasures at the thrift store & saw the cutest little plate & knew instantly that I wanted to make a cake stand with it.
Instructions:
1. Apply a quarter size amount of epoxy to the bottom of your plate.
2. Place a candlestick holder, top side down on the epoxy.
3. Let dry overnight!
And you're done! I told you it was super easy!

Plate: $1.99
Candle Stick Holder: $1.99
Epoxy: $5.99 (there's enough epoxy to make like 10 more of these babies!)

House Tour: My Closet/Extra Bedroom

Friday, January 27, 2012

I have long dreamed of having an extra bedroom that I can turn into my closet. Now that we have our own home, I can make this dream into a semi reality :) While we don't have a lot of extra room here, I founds some creative ways to turn our extra bedroom into my closet/dressing room (while still being our extra room for guests).
Before, the walls were a red-cayenne color. Now they are a dark grey.
Bed Frame: IKEA
Bedding: Crate & Barrel
Eiffel Tower canvas: Urban Outfitters

Picture Frames: IKEA - $1.99 each.
Artwork: My photos from NYC a few years back.
Dresser: IKEA's Hemnes collection (my favorite IKEA collection!)
Sephora's Favorite Collection. I ended up getting Paco Rabanne's Lady Million in the full size,
the scent reminds me of Miami.
An assortment of shoes & purses.
Mini chandelier: Z Gallerie - I looked online but it isn't for sale anymore.
My favorite corner of the room :)

Spirit of 77 (in PDX)

Tuesday, January 24, 2012

This past Saturday we met up with some friends for the Chocolate Festival & then some day drinking at one of our favorite sports in Portland, Spirit of 77. We love this place because it pays homage to our favorite team & the food & drinks aren't bad either. If you live in Portland & haven't been here, I suggest you should. Such a fun place to grab a beer & watch the game.
& Luke beat us all at hoops!

Sunday trip to Hood River

Monday, January 23, 2012

This past Sunday, Luke & I took a day trip out to Hood River, about an hour east of Portland on I-84 through the Columbia Gorge. We endured the windy car ride mixed with snow & rain & ended up in a cute little snow filled town. We walked around the shops downtown with some warm drinks in hand until our tour at the Full Sail Brewery started. After our brewery tour we had lunch at the pub & then headed home in horrible driving conditions with lots more wind & rain & crazy drivers than the trip out there. We made it safely back to Portland & decided that we love day trips, so we'll def. be doing more in the future :)
